Our Mission: "Building Better Lives through Homeownership and Education"

Who We Are

Empowerment Alliance of Southwest Florida is a 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is to improve the quality of life for those living in Immokalee, eastern Hendry County, and the Big Cypress and Immokalee Seminole Indian Reservations.

On January 1, 1999, the Empowerment Alliance and its partners secured a Rural Federal Enterprise Community designation administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  This designation brings with it seed money to develop programs that offer new opportunities for residents in the areas of affordable housing, education, and job training.

Today, the Empowerment Alliance is building a base of private donors through designated funds at the Community Foundation of Collier County and the Southwest Florida Community Foundation.  With our donors, the Alliance is developing programs so residents can purchase safe, new affordable homes and learn new skills so they can obtain higher-paying jobs.

Uniquely positioned to facilitate positive changes in these rural areas, the Empowerment Alliance is working with many partners, donors, and community residents to bring new opportunities to Immokalee, eastern Hendry County and the Big Cypress and Immokalee Seminole Indian Reservations.

Who We Serve

The Empowerment Alliance service area covers approximately 750 square miles of land spread out among two counties and two Indian Reservations. The population totals approximately 37,000 permanent residents with a poverty rate of 33 percent. In addition, the seasonal influx of migrant farm workers increases the population by 15,000 to 20,000 people during the winter growing season from September to April. We serve eight communities: Immokalee in Collier County; Montura Ranch, Flaghole, South Clewiston, Harlem, Hooker’s Point within eastern Hendry County; and the Big Cypress and Immokalee Seminole Indian Reservations.
